Ranchi: Kingfisher Airlines has started a new flight to Delhi from Birsa Munda Airport. Kingfisher officials have already been informed of the decision and have been asked to prepare themselves for the new venture. Kingfisher already operates a Ranchi-Delhi flight service, which flies out 5.40pm and reaches Delhi via Patna. The new flight, in all likelihood, will fly in the morning. At present, there are three daily flights on the Ranchi-Delhi route- Indian (departure at 3pm), MDLR (departure at 3.30 pm) and Kingfisher’s evening flight. The new flight will be the fourth to connect Ranchi to the national capital. “Several passengers were urging the airlines to start a morning flight so that they can do their work during the day and return via the same airline at night,” said an airline official at Birsa Munda Airport.
This apart, Kingfisher has also decided to convert the four-day a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday) Ranchi-Mumbai flight (departure 3.25 pm) into a daily service from tomorrow. Plans of several other airline to introduce new flights from Ranchi to various cities including Calcutta, Hyderabad and Bangalore, are afloat for a long time. MDLR, which has a Ranchi-Delhi flight at present, had plans to start a Ranchi-Hyderabad flight. The Calcutta based ZAV Airways was also to start a Ranchi-Calcutta service. Both plans are yet to take off.
