New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a new “Duranto” non-stop train from Bangalore.
Considering the pleas of the Karnataka government, Mamata declared a Duranto non-stop train to Bangalore which will be operated in the near future. She however, did not name the other end of the destination of the train. “Karnataka has got 12 new trains, four extensions of trains, one increase in frequenct etc” she added.
In her reply to the debate on railway budget in Lok Sabha, the minister also announced that stations in Bidar and Gulbarga would be upgraded as ‘Adarsh’ stations. She is also looking to implement doubling of Raichur-Guntakal and Gooti-Renigunta on fast-track. Priority would be given to Kottur-Harihar and Hassan-Bangalore new line, gauge conversion of Shimoga-Talaguppa and doubling of Ramanagaram-Mysore.
