Aitken Spence Hotels and Resorts, a Sri Lankan hotel company that has over 25 hotels in Sri Lanka, India, Maldives and Oman combined, has launched its fifth property in India. The property, known as Tamara, is located in Coimbatore, in the foothills of Western Ghat Range. Tamara is an enterprise of Pricol Ltd, a business house in Coimbatore. The resort has greenery all around it and is the perfect setting to satisfy the taste of all kinds of visitors.
Tamara contains eight air-conditioned luxury tents, each with two double beds and an attached bathroom. The resort also has a facility to offer holistic treatments based on Ayurveda, with the help of specialists in the field. The adventurous souls should not feel disappointed, as the resort also offers kayaking, trekking, mountain climbing, angling and water sports options. The management is planning the addition of 14 air-conditioned cottages in coming time as well.
At the launch, Mr. Lakshman Ekanayake, Chief Executive Officer of Aitken Spence Hotel Managements in India, said that with Tamara, the group would strengthen its presence in the region. Mr. Malin Hapugoda, Managing Director of Aitken Spence Hotels and Resort, said that they would follow their 'Guest is Supreme' philosophy and would continue the excellent service for which they are known. Aitken Spence Hotels and Resorts also manage four other resorts in India, besides Tamara. They are ‘Heritance Madurai’ in Madurai, ‘Atithi’ in Puducherry, ‘Poovar Island Resort’ in Kerela and ‘Barefoot at Havelock’ in the Andaman Islands.
