About Bangalore

Officially known as Bengaluru, Bangalore is the capital city of Karnataka and predominantly known as the hub of India’s IT industry. Bengaluru is nicknamed ‘Garden City’, due to its lush green surroundings and relatively pollution free atmosphere. Founded in the 16th century by a local chieftain Kempe Gowda, Bengaluru derives its name from the Kannada word ‘Benda Kaluru’, meaning the city of boiled beans’. The metropolitan is dotted with a number of important tourist attractions of Karnataka. Since it is the ‘Garden City of India’, thousands of tourists throng the place every year, to enjoy a pleasurable trip and to experience the tranquilizing atmosphere of its tourist spots.

The tourist attractions of Bangalore include parks, historical monuments, museums, art galleries and a number of places of worship. Lal Bagh, a well known botanical garden, is the most visited tourist attraction of Bengaluru. It is spread over 240 acres of land. The garden is home to over 1000 species of flora. It is renowned for its annual flower show, which is the best time to visit the place. Functioning under the aegis of the Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka, Lal Bagh is open to the general public from 6 am to 7 pm daily, all through the year. Cubbon Park is the second most visited tourist attraction of Bengaluru. Spread over 300 acres of land, the park is home to numerous trees and plants of as many as 96 species.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, which is located near K.R Market, is the choicest place of interest for historians. Bangalore Palace (located near Cantonment Railway station), Mayo Hall, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, ISKCON Temple, St Patrick's church are other prominent tourist spots of Bangalore. Bengaluru is a wonderful place to visit not only because of its scenic beauty, but also due to its favorable climate. The city enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year. Bangalore doesn’t experience extremely chilly winters or scorching summers. It is cold during January and the hottest in the month of April.
